HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR OWN WORK-LIFE BALANCE

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR OWN WORK-LIFE BALANCE

Work-life balance is a common phrase said when people talk about juggling work and daily life responsibilities. The idea of work-life balance is that people can enjoy their personal life while simultaneously being able to perform at work. Yet, most of the time, people find it difficult to manage their personal life and their commitments with work .We stated below simple yet effective ways on how you could healthily manage your work-life activities.

There is no such thing as a perfect balance

When it comes to commitments such as work and life, quantity is not the ideal measurement of balance. Splitting your day in half by allotting 12 hours for work and 12 hours for life does not equate to a work-life balance. Stray away from having a perfect schedule but make your day consist of realistic goals and expectations. Furthermore, you have always to remain open to reassessing needs and deciding on what to do next to achieve a balance in your work and life. Do not rush to balance your day immediately but commit to completing daily tasks for your personal life and work.

Make clear boundaries

People appreciate others going out of their way to help them out. The same goes for people at work, and the same goes for the people around you. However, constantly going out of your way for work may eventually lead to fatigue, stress, and burnout. On the other hand, going out of your way too much for friends and family may affect your work performance and growth. A healthy way of dealing with these issues is setting clear boundaries for you, your workmates, family, and friends. Having a separate phone, laptop, email account, and social media help you segregate life and work responsibilities and reminders from each other. Make sure to know when you should work, work at home, or stop working to keep you from overcommitting and end up working on weekends, days off, and vacations.

Your health should be your number 1 priority

Devoting yourself entirely to your work may award you overtime pay, recognition, or even a promotion, and that may sound like a significant trade off, but in reality, it isn’t. Success at the cost of your health may be a quick way up the success ladder, but it is also a fast route down. Stress and fatigue will benefit no one and cost a lot for anyone involved. A good company provides its employees with vacations and leaves, uses them, and takes a quality break from work. A worker, employee, employer, and business owner can function and achieve more efficiently when they also take care of their well-being

Managing your way through all the chaos caused by clashes between work and life may be difficult. Creating a sustainable balance between both sides needs continuous adjustments as your work, interests, and family commitments change. You won’t achieve your desired healthy work-life balance instantly, so check your priorities regularly, wants, and needs, take your time then adjust accordingly.
